When has Apple ever made anything more than "just a small improvement"?
iOS evolution from 1 to 4 is somewhat disappointing. It has become somewhat stale, especially for the iPad. Hopefully iOS 5 is a big leap forward.

According to this article http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/in_budget_fight_conservatives_have_put_themselves_in_a_corner/2011/04/06/AFPriirC_story.html?wprss=rss_homepage
it seems pretty clear the Tea Partiers do not want to compromise at all. They not only want 33-50bill in cuts but they want to choose were they come from.
50 billion out of a budget of what? A trillion and a bit? What's really ridiculous is all the petty bitching coming out of DC over what amounts to less than 5% of the total. The Titanic is hit and two engineers are fighting over whether or not to turn on one pump.
If the government "shuts down", not much will change. Life will continue.

US made bikes? HA. good luck - there are like 3 main manufacturers all over seas that put out most frames (Giant is a big one.) - past that SRAM and Shimano are going to be your group (i think SRAM still has some US plants). Wheels will be easier to find but hubs/rims - not so much.
I'm not going for 100% US-made. I'd like something designed and assembled in the US with a US-made frame.
I'm single. I need a sexy car, not a four door.
American carmakers don't really do "sexy" anymore, unless you find trucks and SUVs sexy. Ponycars are pretty much your only option.
It must be nice having so much money that you can base your car purchase on a political statement ... though I understand you folks are working with the best intentions.
Everyone's situation is going to be different. It's neither wise or economically realistic to restrict yourself entirely to domestic products. But everyone can support their local or national economy in some way by being a more educated consumer.
It's also worth remembering that there are precisely zero passenger vehicles on sale in the US that are completely designed and built in the US with 100% US parts. Every car being built these days has foreign content somewhere. I have no special loyalty to US car manufacturers at any rate.

For starters, what if I went to a public library or Internet cafe and downloaded updates or a torrent? What if I stumbled onto someone's unsecured wireless router and borrowed their connection to do it? The ISP knows they handed out an IP to a given subscriber at a certain time, but they *can't* prove WHO downloaded specific files based on that.
Heck, just recently, I fixed some wi-fi problems for a customer. His Linksys router worked great until 2 weeks ago, when his computers suddenly had problems connecting reliably. Turns out, his SSID of "linksys" matched someone across the street who also bought the same model of router, leaving their default SSID of "linksys" in place too. His PCs saw two devices with good signal strength having identical names and were alternating between using his and using his neighbor's router. (Neither person had WEP or WPA encryption set up.)
...Which your ISP has kept a record of that YOU had that dynamic IP at a specific date and time. Your ISP knows when and for how long they hand out each IP address. It's called record keeping. I know which user on my LAN at my business has which DHCP given IP. It's simple historical data.
Think RIAA and all the John/Jane Doe lawsuits

Thank you- i was sitting here wondering why the hell anyone would think this was a negative development... and about to post something like what you did.
Same here. How can somebody rate this negative?
It's a development for the future and will make many other dongles obsolete over time.

Why is everyone ragging on Facebook for this?
It's not as if they invented it.
Foursquare, Loopt and Gowalla have had these types of apps for many many months.
because it's turned on by default. it should be off by default (IMO) and then turned on as an option. many people aren't aware that Facebook's new "features" are almost always on when rolled out.

My impression is that Apple does not want to tell you what to watch on your iPhone. ... They don't want it to be known for pornography. ... Another important thing to consider is that in today's world it doesn't take much for a media frenzy to develop if your product is linked to some kind of sensational crime or scandal.....
What does ANY of this have to do to Apple rejecting a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist from the App Store?

We are working on a Facebook status update. Our app so far updates users via Twitter on daily things that get tracked. Glad to see Facebook become more iPhone friendly. If you have anything to track / improve in your life, have a look at Track & Share. Try the lite version for free. All the best to all Facebook fans,

He came off as an academic elitist with no grounding with the people. Glad to see he has retired where he belongs: out of politics and in academia.
I agree that that is how he came off as. It's too bad that he didn't have an image consultant, and if he did, they did a piss poor job.
He probably would have done a good job if they won, but we'll never know.

Never said I was Gandhi. My point is valid nonetheless.
There is only a finite amount of water available within the Earth ecosystem an only a percentage of that is available for drinking at any given time. A far greater volume is used for agriculture to grow food for human consumption.
We could all sell our iPhones and Macs right now and donate the cash to a charity of your nomination but it wouldn't change the volume of water available within the Earth ecosystem.
The problem isn't wasteful spending of money. The problem is that Earth does not have enough water to support 7 billion human mouths.
Are these white iPhones genuine. Thought Foxconn would just eliminate employees who stole.

While I have no interest in this app, it is disappointing that they left PowerPC in the dust. Hopefully this isn't a new trend other companies will follow.
Apple is quickly moving its focus towards Intel Macs, and no longer sells Power PC systems in many places.
While that may be true, there are still plenty of PowerPC customers out there. Probably more than Mac x86, right? Then again, as it was said by someone here, this was probably just meant to be a Windows only app, so they might have just made a Mac x86 version so that there could be some Mac support.

How about no driving tax. How about we tax people appropriately and get rid of crap like business tax incentives and farm subsidies since they're only ever abused by people that 'play the game'.
Why should we be screwing over regular people so much.
I agree with the first half of your post, but the "regular people" need to stop trying to blame the government for their problems. If they have a crappy life or can't afford something they think they need, it probably isn't because they are overtaxed.

With the Xserve getting canned, it's likely that Apple will shift Lion server hard towards SOHO needs and further away from the needs of larger enterprise environments.
How will this affect so many Universities that have implemented iTunes U?!

Steve doesn't own the company, the stock holders do.
I think Steve would take issue with that statement.

And don't get me started on whether those poor soldiers are defending their country or providing protection for oil company 'activities'. Under any circumstances, they do deserve gear that 'works'.
I support veterans and families, they risk their lives and the government screws them over, but I cannot condone the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
I nearly threw up when I heard General Jay Garner triumphantly announcing, "Ladies and gentlemen, we're in the oil business," the day before he was replaced by a civilian administrator.

Why do you live there? It sounds an awful lot like you are blaming someone else for the poor choices you've made.
Since the other thread was closed, i decided to reply to your ignorance in this thread. I hope you realize how ignorant you sound. Who the hell are you to judge my choices and decide i've made poor choices? Do you know my circumstances? No. Maybe i live in my parents house, maybe i don't go to a university but a community college instead. No dorms at community colleges. I live 20 minutes away from it. By your logic nobody should ever live in the suburbs. What an idiotic remark.

Your beloved company makes a hire that they obviously deem to be beneficial and the peanut gallery thinks they know better.

Worst Apple ads ever. You attract more flies with sugar than vinegar, and Apple's all about the vinegar.
Actually... that's not true at all! I made a fruit fly trap last week with a small dish filled with balsamic vinegar and covered with saran wrap with little holes poked in it... I caught a whole SLEW of those buggers!!!

On the way to the store, we called a few people and they all wanted one. We ended up buying five 16 GB ones at $321 otd each..cleaned out the entire inventory at that store. The store threw in 5 basic covers for free which used to sell for $10 a piece.

As a long term Garmin user I cringed when they tried doing the phone thing with Asus, this doesnt fill me with any confidence either.
As mentioned above, signal where I am in the UK is just too patchy to rely on, or indeed fast enough (even when signal is good).
When iPhones only had 4/8gb storage then it kind of makes sense but as later models are all 16gb+ whats the big deal?
I like to holiday in the US, often driving long distances. OTA maps would cost me a fortune in roaming fees, if indeed I got signal out in the sticks.
For me buying copilot outright (25/$40) for the UK and (10/$15) USA (Thanks Black friday sales!) made a lot more sense and a fixed budget. I get quarterly updates too so I'm never that out of date!
Before NDrive were given the boot I recall I got their USA/Canada maps for about $5 all in. Unless you really need all the available space for music/games/etc why would you want to risk it all on the chance of a good signal?
