Hey everybody, I'm curious if anybody knows of any programs on the Mac that can edit 3D video. I know iMovie is a no go and I'm doubtful that the FCX will support it, seeing how we barely support Blu-ray as it is
I'm open to all programs and price ranges, though for my own personal need, I'm not talking shooting with an EPIC RED or something, more consumer, $1,500 camera's which really are just filmed in 3D (not giving you actual control like Pro camera's).
Reason I say is, I would love to transition to that format or offer the option, even if it means saving the 3D footage for now on a server and eventually getting back to it (that is if the camera hopefully shoots in both formats at the same time...)
So any thoughts would be awesome.

Who cares??? its a $500 device that can replace all computer needs of any student. Period.
HAHA!
Any student? No. Just No.
Please engage some sort of thought process before you make statements as ludicrous as this.

This is nothing more than manufactured non news.
You're right. So is most stuff on this forum.
It doesn't stop people from being interested in reading about carrier fumbles. It's like watching a slow motion train wreck.

But this discount is not directly to students. It is for institutional purchase I think. Did anyone get this discount through their school?

welcome to the team and thanks for joining!
as for a dedicated GPU, it depends. you can run a GPU folding client, which will use your video card for folding, and you can still run a CPU client also. right now, nvidia cards work much better for folding.
what setup do you have now?
its running a 2.6 Ghz Dual Core with 2 GB of memory, Intel GMA X4500, and windows xp. it just runs F@H at the moment so i would like to use it to the best of its ability.

I might just be missing something here but how does this imply that Apple is putting thunderbolt in here?
I can see where they made the minidisplay port (which is the same form factor as thunderbolt) a dual channel now instead of just a one way channel but wouldn't it say thunderbolt instead of minidisplay port? or is a dual channel minidisplay port just a thunderbolt port? and if minidisplay is on the current 30-pin how is it currently used--do you need an adapter for USB to minidisplay?
i guess i am kind of answering my own question here but does that mean in the future if apple were to say make its own TV one could use the 30-pin connector to plug right into the back of a TV (into a minidisplay port) and play movies/music like that without the need for an HDMI cable?
thx for any help or clarification!
My opinion is that Thunderbolt was not publicly announced when this was originally submitted so call it a dual channel display port so that it does not get leaked out before they announce it. It will probably be corrected/resubmitted as Thunderbolt when and if it comes to be.

I know what some of the plans are as I met the reps from Apple when they came to visit us.
edit: ...and as mentioned, some of you have no concept about the military at all. It's pretty amusing actually.

A talk among two
A talk in front of a few
We see the games both sides have played
We see them chatting and feel dismayed
There " Fued " was a diversion, just to create chatter
Apple & Google friends to the end
But in a ending much like the Mad Hatter

No way in hell. They've already asked their developers to change app resolutions once. 3 screen sizes will never fly with developers.
99.999% likelihood of this being total nonsense.
More importantly if developers where paying attention they would have heard Apples very strong suggestion to avoid dependecies on screen size and resolution. Something Apple has been suggesting for years now.

Is there a catch to this deal? Do you have to buy a MiFi and sign up for some sort of data plan?
$299 is ridiculously tempting.

Apple Japan (http://www.apple.com/jp/) appears to have recreated Japanese versions of the Get a Mac ads with Japanese actors. The new ads can be seen at http://www.apple.com/jp/getamac/ads/
The original U.S. versions of the ads can still be found at Apple's Get a Mac site (http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/).
The original ads featured Justin Long as "Mac" and John Hodgman as "PC". Recent reports (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/11/20061109011718.shtml) have claimed that Justin Long will no longer be in future Get a Mac ads.

You thought they would have learned with "Lemmings", back in the '80s. You don't gain customers by antagonizing them and telling them they're stupid. The big problem with these "hello, I'm a Mac" commercials is that they're an easy target for parodies. It's a sometimes subtle line to cross, and I'm not sure these "hello, I'm a Mac" commercials are completely on one side, but still, it's all about perception, and if it makes PC users angry, it's probably worth taking note...
One of the most to-the-point Apple commercials aired back 10 years or so ago, it was called "dinosaurs", and showed a dad struggling with DOS/Windows issues (you'd hear him mutter "command.com, autoexec.bat, config.sys, IRQ...") while promising his kid he'd be able to see dinosaurs. After a while, the kid gets up and tells the dad he's going to his friend's house. When the dad asks why, the kid replies "he's got a Mac".
What I'd like Apple to articulate in commercials is, when you buy a PC, that's what you get. When you buy a Mac, you get a Mac and a PC for the same price, what is there to think about?
